Today I am going to remake the PRADA Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Mini-Bag, which is really hot right now. I saw it at the specialty store, and the moment I saw it I knew I had to have it. But the price tag of over $2,000? Not so much.
So, I took a bunch of pictures at the store and decided to make one myself. I started by looking for the Re-Nylon material. It took me ages to find something similar, but I finally got it. It’s that special fabric made from recycled plastic. It’s what makes the bag look so special, you know?
After getting the fabric, I started cutting it according to the dimensions I noted down from the original bag. The size was something like 22cm in length, 18cm in height, and 6cm in width, but I had to get it just right. Cutting the fabric was a bit tricky, had to make sure the edges were straight and clean. I used a really sharp pair of scissors and took my time.
Then, the tough part – the sewing. I’m not a pro at sewing, but I have this old sewing machine that does the job. I started with the sides, carefully stitching them together. Then, I moved to the bottom and the top. The Re-Edition 1995 has this distinct padding and top-stitching that gives it a unique look. I tried my best to recreate that. I added some foam padding inside and did the top-stitching with a contrasting thread, just like the original.
- Step 1: Getting the Material– Found the Re-Nylon fabric.
- Step 2: Cutting– Measured and cut the fabric with care.
- Step 3: Sewing– Stitched the sides, bottom, and top.
- Step 4: Details– Added padding and did the top-stitching.
The chain was another adventure. I found a similar-looking chain at a local craft store. It wasn’t the exact same, but it had the same vibe. I attached it to the bag, making sure it was secure and looked good. This bag has a detachable chain, so I made mine the same way. It makes it more versatile, you know? You can wear it as a shoulder bag or carry it as a clutch.
Lastly, I added the PRADA logo. I found a replica logo online, it was not perfect but it was really close. I carefully attached it to the front of the bag. From a distance, you can barely tell it’s not the real deal. The whole process took me a couple of days, but it was totally worth it. I made the bag with my own hands, and it’s something I’m really proud of.
Finishing Touches
The final bag turned out pretty amazing. It’s not 100% like the original, but it’s got the same vibe and looks really good. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now, and I’ve gotten so many compliments. People can’t believe I made it myself. It just shows you don’t need to spend thousands to have a stylish bag. Plus, making it yourself is so much more satisfying.
So, that’s my story of how I remade the PRADA Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Mini-Bag. I hope you guys enjoyed it. It was a fun project, and I’m super happy with how it turned out. Maybe I’ll try making another designer bag soon. Who knows?
