Okay, so I’ve been obsessed with this PRADA Tessuto Nylon Backpack for a while now. You know, the classic one? It’s just so simple and chic, but way out of my budget. So I thought, “Why not try to remake one myself?” Yeah, I know, sounds crazy, right?
First, I spent hours looking everywhere online trying to find a place where I could get this done. I saw on TikTok that this Prada Re-Edition bag is really popular. So many people are looking at it and making their own versions. I figured, if they can do it, so can I! I started searching for quotes and looking for places that could help me remake this bag. I checked out all the usual shopping sites and found some that seemed pretty good, and saved the ones I liked.
Then I started to look at the details of the actual PRADA backpack. I found out it’s made of this “fine nylon” material, which I guess is what makes it so durable. This one site described it as having “adjustable nylon shoulder straps with silver buckles”. Fancy, right? I needed to find similar materials.
I also noticed it has a top flap and two front pockets. The original bag has gold buckles, but I wanted to stick with silver to match the straps. I realized I needed to get some good quality nylon fabric. That was the real challenge. I went to a bunch of fabric stores in my area, but most of them didn’t have what I was looking for.
After a lot of searching, I finally found a place online that sells “Recycled Nylon”. It seemed perfect – good for the environment and probably tough enough for a backpack. I ordered a bunch, hoping it would be enough. It described as “Outer: Recycled Nylon 100%”, so I knew this is what I wanted.

- Measured my old backpack for size.
Next, I had to figure out the size. I used an old backpack of mine as a guide and started measuring and cutting the nylon. It was definitely harder than I thought it would be. Getting the shape right and making sure everything was symmetrical took a lot of tries. There were a few times I messed up and had to start over, but I was determined to get it right.
Once I had all the pieces cut out, I started sewing. Now, I’m not a professional sewer or anything, but I know the basics. I used my grandma’s old sewing machine, which is probably older than me! It took some time to get used to it, but eventually, I got the hang of it. Sewing the straps was the hardest part. They had to be strong enough to hold the weight of the backpack, but also comfortable to wear.
After many hours of work, a lot of trial and error, and a few pricked fingers, I finally finished my remake of the PRADA Tessuto Nylon Backpack. It’s not perfect, but I’m really proud of it. It looks pretty close to the real thing, and it’s actually quite functional. Plus, it only cost me a fraction of what the original would have!

This whole project was a fun challenge. I learned a lot about sewing and working with different materials. It’s definitely satisfying to create something with your own hands. And now I have a cool, unique backpack that I can show off to my friends. I might even start taking custom orders. Who knows, maybe this is the start of my own little bag-making business!
