Okay, so, I recently got into this whole watch thing, right? And I’ve been eyeing this one, the CopyOMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. You know, the one with the “transparent case back” that lets you see all the little moving parts inside. It’s a replica, obviously, but man, it looks good.
First off, I started digging around to see what the deal was with this watch. Apparently, the real Speedmaster was worn by the astronauts on the Apollo 11 mission back in ’69. That’s some serious history! The one Buzz Aldrin wore, that was the first watch on the moon. That’s a cool factoid.
- I began by doing some serious online window shopping. I looked at tons of pictures of the real deal, comparing them side-by-side with the replica.
- Then I found a few forums where people were talking about these replicas. Some folks were really into them, saying the quality was surprisingly good for the price. Others were more, let’s say, skeptical.
- There were discussions of things to look out for in a replica. Like, the font and logo on the dial are supposed to be sharp. The markings too. And on the real ones, there’s this laser etching on the back of the case that’s supposed to be some kind of anti-counterfeiting thing.
I found out that the real Speedmaster has a serial number, and a lot of the fake ones use the same number on multiple watches. So, if you look up the serial number and it comes up for a different watch, that’s a big red flag.
So, after a whole lot of looking and comparing, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered one. When it arrived, I was pretty excited. I spent a good chunk of time just examining it, comparing it to all those pictures I’d seen. Honestly, it looked pretty spot on. The weight felt right, the details seemed accurate.
I even tried to see if I could spot that laser etching on the back. It was there, but I have no idea if it was the real deal or not, but it looked like it was supposed to, I guess.
Now, I’m not a watch expert or anything, but this CopyOMEGA Speedmaster, it feels like a pretty decent replica. The movement, powered by some calibre 3861 thing, seems to be keeping time well. It’s a conversation starter, for sure. I wore it out the other day, and a couple of people asked me about it.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with this purchase. It’s a cool-looking watch with a bit of a story, even if it’s not the genuine article. For the price, I think it’s a pretty good deal. I mean, the real one costs a fortune! This way, I get to enjoy the look and feel of a Moonwatch without, you know, having to sell a kidney or something.
