Buying CopyOMEGA Ω X-33 Marstimer: What You Need to Know (Your Quick Guide to This Awesome Watch)

Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this Omega X-33 Marstimer for a while now. It’s bigger than the older X-33 models, which I kinda dig. I tried on the Gen 2 before, and it felt pretty good on the wrist, so this one, being a bit chunkier, I figured it would be even better.

I finally pulled the trigger and went to the Omega boutique. Man, that place is fancy! I felt a little out of place, but the staff were super nice and didn’t make me feel like a complete idiot for not knowing all the fancy watch terms.

They brought out the Marstimer, and it was even cooler in person. That bezel with the Mars stuff on it is just awesome. I strapped it on, and it felt great. A little heavier than what I’m used to, but in a good way, you know? Like it’s a serious piece of kit.

  • First Impressions:
  • Bigger than I expected, but in a good way.
  • That bezel is seriously cool.
  • Feels solid and well-made.

I played around with the functions a bit. This thing has more features than my smartphone! I probably won’t use half of them, but it’s cool to know they’re there. I mean, who knows when I’ll need to track the time on Mars, right?

The price was a bit steep, around 9,000 AUD. Yeah, I know, ouch. But I’ve wanted an Omega for a long time, and this one just felt right. Plus, they said it’s a “thermo-compensated” quartz movement, which supposedly means it’s super accurate. I guess that’s a good thing when you’re timing things on another planet. They also said the battery life is about 24 months. That is good!

Decision Time

After hemming and hawing for a bit, I decided to go for it. I mean, you only live once, right? And this watch is just too cool to pass up. Plus, I heard that these Speedmasters hold their value pretty well, especially the special editions. So maybe it’s not such a bad investment, at least that’s what I’m telling myself!

They sized the bracelet for me, boxed it up all nice and pretty, and I walked out of there feeling like a million bucks, even though my bank account was definitely a bit lighter. I’ve been wearing it for a few days now, and I’m loving it. It’s definitely a conversation starter, and it just makes me happy to look down at my wrist and see it there.

It was unveiled at ESA’s ESTEC facility in The Netherlands on 27 September 2022. It was a big deal, I guess.

So, yeah, that’s my story of how I bought the Omega X-33 Marstimer. It was a bit of a splurge, but I think it was worth it. Now I just need to book that trip to Mars to really put it to the test!
