Okay, guys, let’s talk about my latest project – remaking a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5713/1, the classic style. It’s a beast of a watch, and I was itching to try my hand at recreating it. I was not sure about that when I first started. But I did it! I finally finished it and it turned out to be pretty good.

I started off by gathering all the info I could find about this watch. I mean, I scoured the internet, looked at some similar Nautilus watches that I could see everywhere on the street. I found some info about the ladies’ version with a quartz movement and a 32mm rose gold case, I guess that is pretty similar to the 5713/1. There are also some articles saying how popular the Nautilus is, I could not agree more.

Then, I started by getting all the materials I needed. It took me a while to gather all of the stuff.

I began to work on the case. The 5713/1 has that iconic Nautilus case, so I spent a lot of time on this part. I got a small rose gold case, around 32mm, as I found online, and tried to shape it to match the original as closely as possible. The Nautilus is famous for its octagon shape, so I focused on getting that shape right. It was pretty tricky, but I think I nailed it in the end.

  • First I found a small rose gold case.
  • Then I made it into an octagon shape.

The bezel was the next challenge. I noticed that the 5713/1 has a gemset bezel, just like the ladies’ version I read about. So I got the best tiny gems I could find and started to set them onto the bezel. This was probably the most delicate part of the whole process. I was super careful, made sure they were all secure, and man, did it shine when it was done! Each gem I set seemed to make the whole thing look even more stunning.

After that, I moved on to the bracelet. The original has a matching rose gold bracelet, so I had to make one that looked just as good. I managed to find some rose gold pieces, linked them together, and shaped them to fit the case. I had to make sure it was not only looked good but also felt comfortable on the wrist.

  • Find some rose gold pieces.
  • Link them together.

The movement was a big decision. I found out that there are some Nautilus models with quartz movements, even though the 5711/1A, a model I found, seems to be quite popular with a different kind of movement, but I decided to go with a reliable quartz movement for this remake. It’s accurate, and it keeps the watch running smoothly. It was tough, but I got the movement installed and working perfectly.

Finally, I put it all together. Assembling everything was like the grand finale. I carefully attached the bracelet to the case, making sure everything lined up perfectly. Seeing it all come together was an awesome feeling. The dial, the hands, the case, the bezel, the bracelet – everything just clicked.

Man, the final product is something I’m really proud of. It looks so much like the real deal, and it’s got that classic Nautilus vibe. The rose gold shines, the gems sparkle, and it feels great on the wrist. It is absolutely one of my favorite remakes. Every time I look at it, I’m reminded of all the effort I put into it. It was a real labor of love, and it paid off big time.

So that’s the story of my Patek Philippe Nautilus 5713/1 remake. I hope you guys enjoyed hearing about it. It was a wild ride, but totally worth it. Stay tuned for more of my projects. I cannot wait to share them with you. Peace out!
