You know, that OMEGA Speedmaster Skywalker X-33, that’s a mouthful, ain’t it? Sounds like some fancy spaceship or somethin’. Well, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout it down at the market. Seems like it’s a watch, but not just any ol’ watch. It’s one of them… them special ones.
They say this here Speedmaster Skywalker X-33, you can find it in them fancy Specialty Stores. Now, what exactly is a “Specialty Store”? Sounds to me like a store that sells things only special folks can get. I reckon it’s like that place in town where they sell them shiny rocks and fancy clothes. Not for the likes of me, I suppose. This Omega watch, it must be one of them, what they call it… high-end things.
This watch, it ain’t cheap, I tell ya. It’s for them rich folks, the ones with more money than sense, if you ask me. But they say it’s worth it. Got all sorts of doohickeys and gadgets on it. More buttons than my old radio! I don’t know what half of ’em do, but I guess it’s important to some folks.

- Don’t ask me what that is. Sounds like somethin’ from one of them science fiction shows.
- But it makes the watch work real good, I suppose. Keeps time and all that.
And it’s got somethin’ called a… a “thermo-compensated integrated circuit”. Now what in tarnation is that? I don’t rightly know. These young people use terms that are way above my head. Maybe it’s like the electric light bulb inside there, keeps it all runnin’ smooth. They say this OMEGA calibre 5619, that’s what’s inside, is what makes it tick. Or not tick, since it ain’t got no tickin’ hands. It’s all digital, see? Numbers flashin’ and all that.
I heard one fella say this watch, this Speedmaster Skywalker X-33, it was made for them astronaut folks. The ones that go up in them rockets. Can you imagine that? Wearin’ a watch in outer space! What do they need a watch for up there? Ain’t no clocks in space, far as I know. But I guess it’s important to them. Helps ’em with their… their space business. It’s also a chronograph. Whatever that means, I think it is like a stopwatch.
They say this watch, it’s “limited edition.” That means they only made a few of ’em. Makes it even more special, I reckon. Like them limited edition cornbread pans my sister collects. Only got a few in the whole world. Makes ’em worth more, somehow. Don’t really see why, myself. Cornbread tastes the same no matter what pan it’s baked in, if you ask me.
If you want one of these OMEGA Speedmaster Skywalker X-33 watches, you gotta go to one of them Specialty Stores. They ain’t gonna sell ’em down at the five-and-dime, that’s for sure. And you better bring your wallet, ’cause it’s gonna cost ya. Maybe you can find a used one, some folks call it “pre-owned”. But that is the same as new. Might be a little cheaper, but it’s still gonna be a pretty penny. They say it comes with a warranty. That’s like a promise that it will work right. And if you buy one from the right place, they might throw in some money off, like a couple hundred bucks. 250 dollars to be exact. Sounds like a lot to me!
This watch is from that company, OMEGA, I think it is. The same company makes other watches. I know nothing about them. I only know the Speedmaster Skywalker. I don’t even know if it is for men or women. I guess it is for everyone who can afford it.
Well, I reckon that’s all I know ’bout that OMEGA Speedmaster Skywalker X-33. It’s a fancy watch, for fancy folks, in them fancy Specialty Stores. Not for me, that’s for sure. I’ll stick to my old wind-up watch. It might not be fancy, but it tells the time just fine. And that’s all that really matters, ain’t it?
If you’re gonna spend that much money on a watch, you better make sure you really need it. ‘Cause that’s a lot of money for somethin’ that just tells the time. But hey, what do I know? I’m just a simple person. I don’t need no fancy watch to tell me when it’s time to feed the chickens.
