Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with watches lately, and let me tell you about this one project I took on. I decided to get into the whole Rolex Daytona thing – you know, the fancy watch everyone’s always talking about. Specifically, I went for a high imitation of the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona. Yeah, I know, it’s not the real deal, but it’s pretty darn close, and I wanted to see what the hype was about without, you know, spending a fortune. And it’s a original order one.
I started by doing some digging online, just browsing through forums and stuff, trying to figure out which model to go for. I ended up settling on one with a ceramic bezel and a stainless steel case, just like the original Daytona. It looked sleek, and I figured it would be a good starting point for my little experiment. So the specific model I’ve found is 116500LN.
- First off, finding a decent replica wasn’t easy. There’s a lot of junk out there, but I finally found a seller that seemed legit.
- Then came the waiting game. It took a while to ship, but eventually, it arrived at my doorstep.
- Unboxing it was kind of exciting, I won’t lie. The watch looked impressive, even up close.
I spent hours taking it apart, piece by piece. I wanted to see how well it was made and how it compared to pictures of the real Daytona I found online. The movement inside, a caliber 4130, was surprisingly detailed. I mean, I’m no watch expert, but it looked pretty intricate to me. The dial is white and has contrast counter rings. And it features an Oyster bracelet and a black Cerachrom bezel with tachymetric scale. The hour markers and hands are crisp and well-defined without any imperfections or flaws.
Putting it back together was a bit of a challenge, but I managed to do it without messing anything up. And let me tell you, wearing it around felt pretty cool. I even got a few compliments on it, which was a nice bonus. And it’s water resistant to 100m.
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure with the Rolex Daytona replica. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot about watches in the process. And you know the price of the model? I saw the price tag, $32K+, $28K+, $22K+, $28K+ and even $34K+, but it’s free shipping, haha.
Maybe one day I’ll get my hands on the real thing, but for now, this replica is doing just fine. I also found that the GMT-Master 16700 with a Pepsi bezel and the GMT-Master II Coke ref. 16710 are in this price range. And in 2011 Rolex introduced the Everose gold Daytona reference 116515, on leather strap. I’ll try these models later on.
