Okay, so I’ve been wanting to remake this Prada Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Tote Bag for a while now, and I finally got around to doing it. It’s a classic style, and I thought it would be a fun project to try and recreate. Let me tell you, it was quite the journey!

First off, I gathered all my materials. I knew I wanted to use Re-Nylon because it’s a cool material and I love the texture. Nylon is great because it’s tough but also super light, and it has this smooth, shiny look that I think is really slick. You can just throw it over your shoulder, and it can handle whatever you need to carry around.

  • Re-Nylon fabric
  • Some heavy-duty thread
  • A good zipper
  • Metal chain for the strap
  • Padding materials

I started by sketching out the design. I wanted to get as close to the original 1995 design as possible, so I spent a good amount of time studying pictures and descriptions online. Once I was happy with the sketch, I moved on to cutting the fabric. This was a bit nerve-wracking because I didn’t want to mess up, but I took my time and double-checked everything before making any cuts. It is said that this is a re-edition of an iconic style of 1995, and summarizes Prada codes in a casual way.

Next, I sewed the pieces together. This was probably the most time-consuming part of the whole process. I added some light padding and topstitching to give it that signature look. I had to be really careful with the stitching to make sure it was strong and looked clean. I’m not a pro at sewing, but I think I did a pretty decent job. The original design was also shown by this black iteration.

After that, I attached the zipper. This was a bit tricky, but I managed to get it in straight. Then came the chain strap. I found a metal chain that looked just like the one on the original bag and attached it to the sides. This part was actually pretty fun, and it really started to look like a real bag at this point.

Finally, I added the finishing touches. I made sure all the edges were neat and tidy, and I gave the whole bag a good once-over to make sure everything was secure. And there it was, my very own homemade Prada Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Tote Bag!

The End Result

I have to say, I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. It’s not perfect, but it definitely captures the essence of the original. Plus, it’s a great conversation starter. People are always asking me where I got it, and they’re usually pretty surprised when I tell them I made it myself.

This project was a lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun. It’s really satisfying to see something you’ve made with your own hands come to life. If you’re thinking about trying something like this, I say go for it! Just be prepared to put in some time and effort, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes along the way. That’s how you learn, right? And who knows, you might just end up with a cool new bag that you can be proud of.
