Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this Rolex GMT-Master II “Batman” for a while now, and let me tell you, the whole process was quite a journey. I did a ton of searching online, like, seriously, hours of it. I wanted to find a good deal and, you know, not get ripped off. So, I started by hitting up all the usual spots like eBay.
I found some listings on eBay, and man, the prices were all over the place. One listing had it for around $14,750. Seemed okay, but I wasn’t totally sure. The “Batman,” it’s this 40mm watch. Pretty standard, but it’s got that cool black and blue bezel. I spent days checking out different listings, comparing prices, and reading descriptions.
Catawiki and eBay research
Then I stumbled upon this site called Catawiki. It’s apparently a place where you can buy and sell watches, among other things. I browsed around there, too, just to see what they had. I wanted to compare their prices with eBay to get the best deal I could. Honestly, I felt like I was becoming a watch expert. I even started learning some numbers like 116710BLNR, which is the “Batman” reference number, I guess.
I found this other watch and bought it!
- After I did some research, I found this discontinued model from Rolex—the Rolex GMT Master II, reference 116718LN.
- I started researching about it. It’s a unique-looking watch.
- It had a yellow gold case, a full black ceramic bezel, and a green dial.
- It was pretty expensive but I thought that it was unique and I could save some money compared to buying the “Batman” one.
- I ended up buying it and I’m happy with my purchase!
I read somewhere that Rolex makes, like, 88,500 GMT-Masters a year, and about 54,000 are the stainless steel ones. I didn’t even know that before. The whole experience was pretty intense. I spent so much time researching, I felt like I could write a book about Rolexes. But hey, in the end, I got a great watch, and I didn’t get scammed. So, that’s a win in my book!
