Okay, so the other day, I got this wild idea to try and remake a Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100G-010. You know, the one with all the diamonds? Yeah, that one. I’ve always been a bit obsessed with how classy and fancy this watch looks. I mean, it’s a Patek Philippe, right?
First things first, I started looking around for info about this watch. It’s called the Gondolo 7042/100G-010, and apparently, it’s a pretty big deal. From what I gathered, this thing is part of a collection named after some famous retailer in Rio de Janeiro, Gondolo & Labouriau. Who knew, right?
I found out that this watch is no joke. It’s got an 18k white gold case, which is already pretty insane. But get this, it’s also covered in baguette diamonds along the bezel and lugs. I’m talking serious bling here. And the dial? Oh boy, the dial is also paved with diamonds. It’s like they dipped this watch in a bucket of diamonds and called it a day. Size-wise, it’s about 31mm by 34.8mm, which is perfect for making a statement without being too loud, you know?
Then I started thinking about how to remake this beauty. Since I don’t have access to, you know, tons of diamonds and white gold, I had to get creative. I decided to focus on capturing the essence of the watch – that mix of fancy watchmaking and stunning jewelry.
I’m still in the middle of this project, but let me tell you, it’s been a ride. Trying to find materials that look the part without breaking the bank is a challenge. But hey, that’s part of the fun, right? Making something amazing out of everyday stuff.
I started by sketching out the design, trying to get all those little details just right. Then, I had to figure out what I could use to mimic the diamonds. I’ve been experimenting with different kinds of shiny beads and crystals, trying to find the ones that catch the light just right. It’s a lot of trial and error, but I think I’m getting there.
For the case, I’m thinking of using some kind of polished metal. It won’t be white gold, obviously, but I want it to have that same kind of sleek, luxurious feel. And the strap, well, that’s a whole other story. I’m still figuring out what material to use, but it needs to be something that complements the overall look of the watch.
I’m not sure how close I’ll get to the real deal, but honestly, I’m just having a blast trying. It’s like a puzzle, trying to figure out how to make all the pieces fit together. And who knows, maybe I’ll end up with something that’s not exactly a Patek Philippe, but still pretty darn cool in its own way.
So yeah, that’s my little project for now. I’ll keep you guys posted on how it’s going. Wish me luck!
