You know what? I saw this bag, this Fendi, yeah, that’s the one. Brown, kinda like the color of my old cow back home. They call it Zucchino Mama Forever Baguette. Fancy name, huh? Sounds like something you’d eat, but it ain’t. It’s a purse, a shoulder bag, they say.
This bag, it’s a classic style, I tell ya. Reminds me of them city folks’ bags, the ones they carry all prim and proper. But this one, it’s got that…that somethin’ special. You can carry it to the market, or to church, or even to visit Mildred down the road. It just fits, ya know?
They say it’s from Fendi. That name, heard it before, somewhere. Sounds Italian. My cousin, Bertha, she married an Italian fella once. He made good pasta, I’ll give him that. This bag, though, it’s probably better than pasta. You can’t put your money in pasta, can ya?
- Brown Zucchino, that’s what they call the color. Like I said, like my old cow.
- Mama Forever Baguette. Sounds like somethin’ you’d feed a baby. But it ain’t.
- Shoulder bag, so you can keep your hands free for important stuff. Like holdin’ onto your hat in the wind. Or pickin’ up eggs from the henhouse, though I wouldn’t use such a nice bag for that.
- Classic style, they say. Means it ain’t gonna go outta fashion, like them bell bottoms my granddaughter used to wear.
Now, I ain’t one for fancy things. My old cloth bag, it’s done me just fine. But this Fendi, it’s got me thinkin’. Maybe I need a little somethin’ somethin’, ya know? A little bit of that city slicker style. Just a touch. This perfect copy, they said. Looks like the real deal. I don’t know nothing about them real or not. But it sure is good lookin’.
They say this Fendi Zucchino Mama Forever Baguette, it’s made good. Strong, like my old mule, Bessie. She could pull a cart uphill all day. This bag, I bet it could hold all my things and then some. My knitting needles, my spectacles, a little snack for the road, maybe even a biscuit for old Buster, my dog.
This Silvia, she’s the one who made this bag, back in ninety-seven, they say. That’s a long time ago. Longer than I been married to my old man, and that’s sayin’ somethin’! She must know what she’s doin’, makin’ a bag that lasts this long. This bag’s been around. Popular, like. Everybody want it. You see them city girls on TV with it.
This Fendi place, it’s been around since nineteen twenty-five. That’s even longer! Started by some folks, Adele and Edoardo. Sounds like a love story, don’t it? They had a shop, in Rome. That’s far away. Across the ocean, I reckon. They sold bags and fur. Don’t need no fur here, gets too hot. But a good bag, now that’s somethin’ everyone needs.
This Zucchino pattern, it’s kinda like a checkerboard. Reminds me of the quilt my mama used to make. She was good with her hands, my mama. Could sew anythin’. This bag, it’s sewn good too, I can tell. The stitches are tight, like they should be.
I seen this Fendi Baguette bag, like, everywhere. All over them moving pictures, you know the ones. Them actresses, they all got one. Makes a plain old gal like me feel a little bit fancy, just lookin’ at it.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ I’m gonna get this Copy Fendi Brown Zucchino Mama Forever Baguette Shoulder Bag. But I’m thinkin’ about it. It’s a classic style, that’s for sure. And it looks like it could hold up to just about anythin’. Just like me.
This bag, it’s somethin’ else. It’s like a little piece of that fancy life, right here in my hands. Makes a gal feel, I don’t know, special. Like she could go anywheres, do anythin’. Maybe even go to Rome, see where this Fendi comes from. Ha! Imagine that.
This bag’s a good one. A real good one. Strong. Pretty. That’s all that matter in the end. Just like my old man always used to say, “Get something that lasts, woman, and you’ll be alright”. Maybe he was right. This bag looks like it will last forever.
