Okay, so, you guys know I’m all about those classic styles, right? Well, recently I got it into my head that I just had to have a Prada Re-Edition 2000 bag. I mean, they’re everywhere! I kept seeing them on all the cool people – you know, like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid. It got me thinking, “Why not try to make one myself?”

First, I started digging around online. Turns out, this bag is a remake of one Prada first made way back in 1984, but they made it a small shoulder bag around 2000, and it was a huge hit. Then, they stopped making it for a while. But good news – they brought it back in 2020! It’s basically the same bag, just maybe with a few tiny updates.

So, I found some good pictures and studied them like crazy. I wanted to get every little detail right. I even looked up what kind of material they used. It’s nylon, which is pretty tough stuff. I went to a few fabric stores and finally found something similar. I grabbed a few yards, some thread, and all the other bits and pieces I thought I’d need.

Getting Down to Business

Then came the tricky part – actually making the bag. I pulled out my old sewing machine – it’s been a while! I drew up a rough pattern based on the pictures I’d found. It’s not too complicated, basically just a few rectangles and some straps. I cut out the fabric, making sure to leave extra for seams. Then, I carefully started stitching it all together.

  • First, I sewed the main body pieces together.
  • Then, I added the zipper – that was a bit fiddly!
  • Next, I attached the strap. I decided to make mine a little longer than the original, just because I like to wear my bags crossbody sometimes.

The Final Touches

The last step was to add the Prada logo. Now, I didn’t have a fancy metal one like the real thing. So, I improvised. I found a piece of scrap leather, cut it into the right shape, and stamped “PRADA” onto it using some letter stamps I had. It’s not perfect, but it does the trick! I then sewed it onto the front of the bag. Also, I added a crystal-embellished thing on the strap. I found it from some old bag. It made the bag more shining.

And that’s it! My very own, handmade Prada Re-Edition 2000 bag. It took a few days, and there were definitely a few moments where I wanted to throw the whole thing out the window. But, I’m really happy with how it turned out. It’s not an exact copy, but it’s got that same classic vibe. Plus, it was way cheaper than buying a real one! Also, I ordered one from EMS which took about 9-10 days. It’s a really good quality one. This one I made is for my daily use, and that one is for some important occasions.

So, if you’re feeling crafty and you’re into that classic Prada look, why not give it a try? It’s a fun project, and you end up with a cool, unique bag that you can be proud of. This one might be the one, right? I like it very much.
