Alright, let’s talk about this watch I’ve been messing around with. It’s the OMEGA Speedmaster “Silver Snoopy Award” 50th Anniversary, a real mouthful, I know. I saw it and thought, “Gotta get my hands on that.” So, I went ahead and did just that.
First off, this thing is a tribute to some award OMEGA got from NASA back in 1970. Apparently, Snoopy, the cartoon dog, has been NASA’s safety mascot since the ’60s. Who knew, right? Anyway, that’s the story behind this watch.
I got a pre-owned one, the reference is 310.32.42.50.02.001. This is important when looking for the right one. Mine is dated 2024, but that’s just when I picked it up. The watch itself is part of the 50th Anniversary series, which is pretty neat. It’s got a stainless steel case, which feels solid and looks shiny. The strap is this blue nylon thing. It’s comfortable enough, and it matches the overall look of the watch.
So, I started wearing this thing around, you know, just to see how it feels and all. It’s not too heavy, which is good. The blue strap is kind of casual, so it doesn’t feel too fancy, but the steel case gives it a bit of a classy vibe. The details are amazing when the light hits them just right.
- First Step: I got the watch. It was pre-owned, but in great shape.
- Second Step: I checked out all the details. The Snoopy connection, the blue strap, the steel case, the whole nine yards.
- Third Step: I wore it around, got a feel for it, and even took some pictures because, why not?
- Fourth Step: I started showing it off a bit. People seemed to like it, and it’s a good conversation starter.
The numbers and hands on the watch face are easy to read, which is a plus. And it’s got those little stopwatch dials, which I fiddled with, even though I don’t really need them. It’s just fun to press the buttons and watch them go.
I took some pictures of it, too. I’m no photographer, but I tried to get some good shots to show off the details. The way the light hits the steel case, the texture of the blue strap, and, of course, Snoopy on the back—it all looks pretty cool in the photos, if I do say so myself. Now, I can post them online and share them with other watch geeks, and get their opinions.
Showing it Off
After wearing it for a while, I started showing it off to some friends. They thought it was pretty cool, especially when I told them about the NASA connection. It’s not every day you see a watch with a cartoon dog that’s also a safety mascot for astronauts.
All in all, it’s been a fun experience messing around with this OMEGA Speedmaster. It’s a nice watch, it’s got a cool story, and it’s been fun showing it off and taking pictures. Plus, it tells the time, which is always handy. I love the way it looks in my collection.
